If you’ve ever found yourself wide awake at 3 a.m.—mind racing, body restless, wishing you could just turn off—you’re not alone.
Many of the women who come to my sessions tell me the same story: “I fall asleep fine, but then I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep.”

Especially for women in the stage of menopause, those early-morning wakeups can become a painful routine. The hormones shift, the nervous system stays alert, and the body forgets how to relax. Over time, exhaustion starts to feel normal.

That’s where sound healing can be a gentle reset.

What Is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is an ancient, non-invasive therapy that uses vibrational instruments—like singing bowls, gongs, and koshi bells—to bring the body back into balance. Each instrument is tuned to specific frequencies that help your nervous system release stress and invite rest.

Unlike medication, there are no side effects. You don’t have to take anything or risk feeling groggy the next day. The sound does the work for you—helping your body remember what it feels like to rest.

When people come to our community sessions, they often tell me afterward that it feels like their body finally let go.

The Moment Rest Returns

I’ll never forget one of my first clients who came to a sound bath during her menopausal transition. She told me she hadn’t slept through the night in months. Her face looked tired, her shoulders tense. She came in not really knowing what to expect—just hoping for a little relief.

During the session, I played a combination of singing bowls, gongs, and koshi bells. The air was filled with a soft vibration that wrapped around the group like a cocoon. By the end, she was resting so deeply that I didn’t want to move too quickly to wake her.

The next day, I checked in with her—something I often do after a session. Her message made me smile:

“Oh my God, I had the best sleep of my life. I don’t know how this happened. I just lay down and slept like a baby.”

Sometimes that’s all the body needs—an hour of permission to release what it’s been carrying.

Why It Works

When you hear the deep hum of the gong or the shimmering tone of a bowl, you’re not just hearing sound—you’re feeling vibration. Those frequencies move through the body, loosening tension, slowing the heart rate, and helping the mind quiet down.

The sound tells your system, you’re safe now.

In that state, stress hormones decrease, muscles relax, and the brain shifts into the slower waves associated with rest and repair. For many women, this becomes the first full night of sleep they’ve had in weeks—or even months.

And it doesn’t just stop there. The next day often feels lighter, calmer, more grounded.

What to Expect at a Session

In our group sound baths, you’ll lie down or sit comfortably as the instruments are played around you. You don’t have to do anything—no effort, no control. Just listen and breathe.

Some people drift into sleep during the session; others hover in that soft in-between place where you can feel your body melting.

The most common “side effect” I hear afterward?

“I slept so well.”

I usually recommend hydrating well after the session, since vibration moves every liquid in your body, and resting early that evening to let your system integrate.

Rest Is Healing

We often underestimate how deeply rest itself can heal us. In a culture that glorifies doing more, it can feel strange to heal by doing less. But sound healing reminds us that our bodies know how to restore themselves when given the chance.

When we allow the sound to wash through us, the body remembers its rhythm. It remembers peace.
