Not everyone who walks into my space believes in energy work — and that’s okay.

Some come because they’ve tried everything else and nothing seems to help. They’re tired, frustrated, and unsure whether one more session with one more therapist will make a difference. I completely understand that feeling. Healing can be a long road, especially when pain becomes part of everyday life.

But sometimes, all it takes is one open moment — a willingness to try something new — for the body to begin remembering how to heal.

The First Visit

I remember one client in particular who came to me a few years ago. They were in constant pain — stiff, sore, and emotionally drained. They admitted right away, “I don’t really believe in this stuff. I’ve been to doctors, chiropractors, physical therapy… nothing has worked.”

It wasn’t said in a rude way — it was said with exhaustion. They were tired of hurting.

We started slow. I told them there was no need to believe in anything — just to be present and notice what they felt. During that first session, I focused mostly on bodywork, using gentle techniques to ease tension and help circulation. As I worked, I could feel how guarded their body was — muscles tight, breath shallow, nervous system on alert.

By the end of the hour, they said they felt “a little better.” Not a miracle, just a slight sense of relief — but that was enough for them to book another session.

The Shift Begins

Over the next few months, we continued working together regularly. As trust built, I began incorporating more energy work — subtle Reiki techniques, gentle rocking, and rhythmic movement inspired by Thai massage.

Each session, the energy felt different. The body started to open. Their breathing deepened. They began noticing things — how emotions would surface unexpectedly, how the tension would shift in certain areas, how sleep improved afterward.

Then, one day, they said something that still stays with me:

“I think I can finally trust my body again.”

That moment brought tears to my eyes. Because that’s what this work is really about — not just releasing tension, but helping people rebuild a relationship with themselves.

When Healing Becomes Partnership

The turning point wasn’t one single session. It was consistency — showing up, listening, and allowing the body to teach us both.

Each week, I noticed changes. Their muscles softened faster. They began telling me when they sensed imbalance — “It’s starting in my lower back again,” or “I can feel it coming on.” That awareness was a huge sign of healing. It meant they were tuning into their body instead of fighting against it.

They also began practicing more self-care between sessions — walking, stretching, meditating. Healing became a collaboration, not something that only happened on my table.

Finding Emotional Release

One of the most profound sessions we had was during a Reiki treatment. This client had been carrying grief from a family loss that had never been fully processed. During the session, their breath changed, and I felt the energy shift around their heart center.

Afterward, they shared that they’d felt warmth, almost like a wave moving through their chest. For the first time, they said they felt “peace” about that loss.

It wasn’t just emotional — it was energetic. The body had finally released something it had held for years.

From that day forward, something about them changed. Their face looked softer, their posture more open, and they smiled more easily. They told me they felt like a different person — not because all the pain had vanished, but because they had hope again.

The Power of Trust

Trust is one of the most powerful elements in healing. It’s not only about trusting me as your therapist — it’s about learning to trust your own body again.

When you’ve been in pain or disconnected for a long time, it’s easy to feel like your body has betrayed you. But what I’ve seen again and again is that your body never stops trying to communicate. It’s always guiding you — through sensations, fatigue, even pain — toward what needs care and attention.

Massage and energy work create a safe space for that communication to reopen. Through consistent, gentle work, your body remembers that it’s safe to release, safe to rest, and safe to receive again.

Healing Is a Journey

The client I mentioned still comes for maintenance sessions years later. What started as a “last resort” has become a regular part of their self-care. They laugh about how skeptical they were in the beginning, and how now, when tension creeps in, they say, “Okay, time to go see Amy.”

Their story reminds me that healing isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about relationship, trust, and time. Each session builds upon the last, allowing the body, mind, and energy to find their own rhythm of balance.
